This is our dog Mississippi. We brought her home from the Portland Oregon Humane Society on April 6th 2009.
We’re going to celebrate her birthdays on April 6th every year since we don’t know what her real birthday is. She was listed as a 1 year old Border Collie/Labrador mix. She’s about 39 pounds but she tugs like an 80 pounder. To say she is full of energy would be an understatement. She’s been a handful to train and keep out of trouble but we love her dearly. She lives with my husband and I in the Sellwood neighborhood of Portland Oregon. She likes squirrels, sticks, stealing our shoes, and destroying my vegetable garden.

I write about our trials and tribulations in my Doggy Chronicles blog.

Keeping Mississippi happy would not be possible without the support and terrific services by the following:

Rockin’ Roxy’s – Fantastic doggy day care and boarding. In the Sellwood/Moreland neighborhood of Portland.
Sellwood Grooming and U Wash – Best nail trimmers around.
Sellwood Dog Supply – for keeping us stocked up on cool toys, healthy food and treats.
Pawsitively Pawssible Dog Training – For introducing us to clicker training and getting her started with a great foundation plus some cool tricks.
Oregon Humane Society – For giving us the best dog ever.

We believe the path to a happy dog is in fun training, healthy food, and lots and lots of love. If you are thinking of adopting a dog from the Humane Society, or have already, please read my doggy blog and leave comments if you have anything you’d like to share. This first three months with Mississippi has been a challenging road but with support and patience from friends and kind strangers, we’ve come a long way. I hope our journey can help others out there in similar circumstances.
