A post for Lynn

I don’t write in my blog daily, and I don’t like a lot of the things I post but I’ve found that its important for me to keep this thing up, even if it means filling it full of boring crap no one wants to read. On your blog you ask what a person can do to improve their blog writing habits. So here is a list, because I love making lists, you know.

  • Write offline, but think about pasting little bits of it to your public blog. This alleviates the feelings of pressure one might experience when feeling like they have to address some sort of public.
  • Assume no one reads it anyway. Do it for yourself. Have lovely long conversations with yourself. Who cares.
  • Use it as a life recorder. Look back on old posts and think to yourself, “Gosh, I wish I had posted a little blurb about the day when…”
  • Make some sort of fun exercise of it. How about a daily haiku? or a daily list? Evany does a twitter post every day abot her casual carpool experiences.
  • Just write. write about why you can’t think of anything to write about in your blog.
  • It’s not like whatever you write is going to be ingrained in stone. You can always go back and edit, remove, elaborate, etc. I bet this post is chock full of typos. Maybe I’ll fix them someday, maybe I won’t. The power is mine.
  • If you don’t want to just write plain old boring posts, pick a subject, do a brainstorming session on it. disect it into managable chunks. Then write about one small chunk a day.
  • Use your blog as a way of documenting research on the internets. If you are looking into a particular subject, share your finds with us.

OK, that is all. Or maybe it’s not. Maybe I will add more later. You just never know. Because I’m crazy like that. Crazy like a fox.
