Things I used to do, a retrospective

The end of the year is quickly approaching and I thought instead of a resolution list, I’d make a list of things I used to do, or do less of now.

  • I used to buy lunch nearly every day. Now I bring my lunch nearly every day.
  • I used to have three credit cards. Now I have one.
  • I used to use canned broth. Now I use homemade
  • I used to go out drinking all the time and could easily spend $80 – $100 on drinks alone in one night. Now it seems I only visit bars 2-5 times a year, tops. I now enjoy a bottle of wine with a nice dinner every once in a while.
  • When I lived in the south bay or santa cruz, I drove pretty much everywhere I went. Now I take the bus or walk most places.
  • I used to drink a lot of soda. Now I occassionally have a soda if I’m feeling frisky.
  • I used to eat fast food at least once a week. Now it’s closer to once a year.
  • My diet used to be comprised mainly of starches and cheeses. Now I eat tons of fruits, vegetables, and grains.
  • I used to have hangovers weekly. I still have too many, but it’s more like monthly or bi-monthly.
  • I used to work long hours in front of the computer. Now most days it’s just 8 hours and some change.
  • I used to hate the crust on brie. Now I don’t mind it.
  • I used to think I’d probably never find a healthy, loving relationship. Now I look one in the eyes every day.
  • I used to pay a gym membership. Now I get exercize the “old fashioned way”.
