We ordered the carne asade super burrito for $7.50. The tortilla was grilled as Bradley promised and had terrific flavor. The carne asada (steak) was fantastically grilled with plenty of browned flavorful bits paired with tender, juicy bits. The burrito was smaller than your average Taqueria super burrito and wasn’t as jam packed but it had a nice ratio of ingredients; heavier on the meats than the beans or rice). The size was actually the perfect amount for me. I was very full but I didn’t want to die like I usually do after attempting an entire burrito.

Burritos are served on nice ceramic plates with a side of mexican style coleslaw. They have $2 draft beers, $3.50 for bottles and have sangrias for $4 a (full) glass. There are two crisp whites and two smartly chosen red wines to choose from as well as an agave wine margarita we will definitely try next time. Menu was not on the cheap side as taquerias go, but the nice tables, chairs, dishes, and all-you-can-stand salsa bar are worth a little extra and the ingredients are better quality than most taquerias.

The salsa bar is excellent. Roasted tomatillo, chipotle, roasted tomato, fresh salsa, habañero, pickled jalapeños (a big plus for Tom), yum. The chips were served to us warm, in a big bowl. They are the thicker kind, I prefer crispy thin ones but that’s just me. The staff was very friendly. Tables needed a wipe-down. The Tables are self-bused so they need to do an occasional trip around the restaurant with a rag. The bus trays were full and needed to be emptied. The wooden tables and carved chairs, as well as the nice paint job and art on the walls bumps this taqueria up to casual restaurant status.

All in all, I give this place two thumbs up and we are definitely going back. This may just replace the hole in our hearts that was made when Sweet Heat went out of business.
