Fine Food

Juniper is about to wake up any second but I thought I’d make a quick post. I’ve been thinking about how, even with a challenging newborn, we’ve been able to have fresh cooked meals almost every night. And I’ve been thinking about how, for close to ten years now, Tom and I have eaten dinner together most nights of the week. I thought this was pretty normal but I’m finding out it isn’t. And so I feel a bit of pride about it. I want to start photographing our dinners more regularly again. We joined a great CSA and we’ve had some delicious meals using fresh local veggies. Even though having a newborn at home has been hard, I’d like to show the world, you really can continue to eat good food, you don’t have to settle for frozen food or take-out.

From the CSA: potato, carrot, garlic, beets, fennel.

So I’d like to make a little photo booth out of a cardboard box and some paper. Maybe Juniper will stay asleep long enough for me to gather my materials.

A little while ago, a non-profit children’s farm in San Jose asked if they could use some of my drawings for a banner. I was thrilled they asked and it’s been something I’ve been thinking about. How to work my choices about food into my art practice.
